Kyocera Corporation today announced the release of DIGNO DUAL (WX04K), the first Android smartphone inJapan to be compatible with both PHS (personal handy-phone system) and 3G networks1. Realizing a dual-network smartphone is the result of Kyocera?s many years of experience with R&D in telecommunications technology. The phone will be available on the WILLCOM service network, marketed under Kyocera?s DIGNO smartphone brand. The DIGNO DUAL takes advantage of the benefits of both the PHS networks clear voice quality for calling, and the 3G network?s ULTRA SPEED2 data transfer of up to 21 Mbps (down). Furthermore, the new water-resistant3 smartphone comes equipped with a 1.2GHz dual-core CPU for simultaneous support of multiple applications. Available in four color variations, the new phone is part of WILLCOM, Inc.?s new handset lineup.

The DIGNO DUAL is equipped with a 1.2GHz dual-core CPU for high-speed processing and multitask processing. For example, the user can listen to music and upload to a blog at the same time, or the handset can process multiple applications and browsers at the same time while maintaining smooth operation.

2. High-speed data transmission

With downlink speeds of up to 21Mbps with the ULTRA SPEED 3G service, users are able to view full Web pages, send and receive large files, stream videos and download applications with ease.
