Have you heard the song "Jessie's Girl" on the radio recently and wondered, "Where is Rick Springfield now?" Well, last night, the answer was "jail." The '80s rocker -- who recently released a tell-all memoir about his '80s exploits -- was arrested on Sunday night for driving under the influence.
According to reports, the police pulled Springfield's car over for a traffic violation around 8:00 p.m. on California's Pacific Coast Highway. When the officer smelled alcohol on Springfield's breath, he asked the singer, 61, to perform sobriety tests, which he failed. TMZ reports that Springfield took a breathalyzer test, and that his blood alcohol level was .10 -- which is .02 percent over California's legal limit. He was taken to a Los Angeles jail and released on $5,000 bail after "sobering up," at around 2 in the morning.
In his mug shot from Sunday, Springfield looks like a guy who's been crying. We hope he gets the help he needs -- and that getting behind the wheel after hitting the bar was a one-time mistake. The '80s heartthrob is currently touring, and is scheduled to play a concert in Trinidad in less than two weeks.
Rick isn't the only celeb to grapple with the law over the weekend. According to TMZ, Rapper Flavor Flav was arrested in Las Vegas, Nev., on Friday night. After pulling over the 52-year-old rapper (real name William Jonathan Drayton Jr.) for a routine traffic violation, officers discovered that there was a warrant out for his arrest for four different traffic offenses: driving without proof of insurance, a parking violation and two separate counts of driving without a license.
Flav has a history of trouble with the law. In 1991 he did 30 days in jail for assaulting his girlfriend, and in 2002 he spent nine weeks in Riker's Island jail for -- shocker! -- driving with a suspended license (among other offenses). On Friday night, Flav was taken to a nearby jail, booked and later released. At least the cops got him off the roads for a little while.
