Social Media, SEO, and Website Design ? Using the Internet to ...

Digital media is becoming the biggest arena for businesses to advertise themselves to the rest of the world, with television adverts, websites and social media advertising increasingly used by the in-house or external marketing departments of big companies. There are two approaches to digital marketing and which one you take depends on how big your brand is. Firms like Pepsi, Tesco and Hi Tech are internationally known so they can afford to focus on television advertising and direct sales through their websites. If a company has a less well known brand reputation, they need to really push their name into the public eye and actively target customers who will actually want to buy their products.

For most businesses who want to build themselves an online presence, the first step is a good website design. Leeds is becoming one of the most professional and advanced centres in the UK for website design and digital marketing with international brands choosing agencies from the region to design them a user friendly website which will service their original customers and attract new ones. As internet users, consumers like to be able to find what they are looking for and make a purchase; they do not want to work through ten forms at a checkout or be asked to fill in a survey on every page. Websites with the intention of selling products will lose thousands if not millions of pounds of profits every year if their website has been poorly designed with no attention paid to user experience.

Social media has quickly become one of the most popular activities of young and old alike, with Twitter, Facebook and MySpace becoming the main channel of communication for some people. These social media sites offer businesses the chance to increase their brand reputation, advertise to potential customers and give consumers a forum to share their experiences of the company with each other. This can have a negative effect if the company is involved in a harmful public news story and receives a high level of criticism however brand reputation is a vital factor of every business? online success. So long as you respond to criticism in a positive way, the evidence suggests that allowing consumers to talk about you in a forum of your making is good for business.

Search Engine Optimization or SEO is arguably THE most important factor in the online success of any company without a national reputation as it helps a company?s website to appear as high as possible in the search results when items or words are searched for with a connection to the products the company sells. For example, if I was looking to buy children?s clothing on the internet I would type into the search box ?children?s clothing? and a list of websites would appear which sold or talked about children?s clothing. SEO would help a client?s website to reach the top 10 search results, gaining maximum exposure to the consumers who are actually looking to buy their products.

In today?s world, businesses cannot afford to miss their chance with social media. There are hundreds of companies with a presence on the internet that have been advertising themselves to your clients for years. Unless you start to develop a website, advertise yourself to your consumers and optimize your online presence for maximum publicity, you will find yourself losing out to the companies that have been on the internet for longer than you, simply because they show up first in the search results.

Emergency Student Loans Are Available! ? Articles VIP

Emergency student loans are short-term student loans that are designed to help students cover things like tuition, rent and course textbooks. In the current financial climate, the students? ability to pay can change drastically. For example, a parent may get fired or suffer a pay cut. Compared to other student loans, emergency student loans offer less money and have shorter terms. However, they are easier to secure, they go into effect much quicker and they don?t contain extra fees that are common in other student loans.

These loans are given to those students who require fast loans to start or complete the course that they have opted for. They do not have to worry about the timing of these loans as they can be availed instantaneously. What?s more, these loans are available at much lower interest rates than personal or other loans.

Emergency student loans also offer limited repayment plans.? Many require you to repay the full amount of the loan, plus interest and service charges, within 30 days of the date it was issued.? For many students, this is a real problem and it gets them into even worse financial trouble.? Consider carefully whether you will have the money available to repay the loan within one month.

These student loans are designed to help students with urgent situations that might come up during the semester. Each university will have different guidelines and restrictions for their emergency student loan, but the concept is still the same. If a university chooses to offer this funding, the money is intended to be used on education related materials.

What will emergency student loans cover? One thing to note about these types of loans is that they are created for people in need of emergency money and they do not cover poor planning. Emergency student loans are designed to cove things like, loss of a job , family health crisis where you had to use your college fund, or loss of your house. Frequently, these programs come in handy as loans for single mothers in a crisis or during family trouble. The money can be used for a variety of school expenses, including books, tuition and housing.

Most students use pending financial aid to pay off the student emergency loans. Because financial aid student loan disbursements are often delayed until the beginning of the term, an emergency student loan can help bring in funds sooner for miscellaneous expenses such as buying textbooks.

Many colleges offer emergency student loans for students who need money for typical college expenses such as rent, tuition payment, or to buy textbooks. For example, one well-known California university offers a student emergency loan of up to $775 to students who have already paid their tuition for the current semester. There are no interest charges, but there is a fee for borrowing the money. In most cases, emergency student loans can be distributed within 24-48 hours or sometimes even the same day. This type of loan would be good for students who need help with living expenses. For additional important information go to http://www.studentloanstudy.com

Entourage Is Big-Screen Bound

Vincent Chase?s circumnavigation of the Hollywood world is nearly complete, as this eighth and final season of Entourage sees him returning home?like a modern Odysseus having escaped from Sasha Grey?s coke-pushing Circe, survived his shipwreck on the rocks of whatever that shitty-looking Ferrari biopic was, and at last reclaimed his rightful throne, where he can finally see some tits again and make a dog movie. But as foretold in 2009, his journey shall not end there?nay, producers Doug Ellin and Mark Wahlberg have fsworn, before gods and man and reporters at the show?s Television Critics Association panel, that Entourage boldly will go on as a feature-length film, even if Wahlberg himself has to take metaphorical hammer and chisel in hand and pay for it himself. ?We?re going to do a movie,? Ellin avowed in a voice we can only assume resounded like a thunderclap. As quoted by Deadline, Ellin continued, ?We?re going to do it. The questing is when and how quickly. Hopefully we?ll come down with an idea and make it happen.?

Naturally, some will assume that this is just a typo, and Ellin actually said ?question? instead of ?questing,? or that he meant ?come up with? instead of ?come down with.? These people are plebeian fools. Ellin and Wahlberg are clearly referring to their quest to scale Mount Olympus and petition the Muses for a premise suitably epic to sustain 90 minutes, like maybe Vince gets a movie job that requires him to go to a tropical island for a while, and then they all go and they have fun together just being friendly bros. And then maybe some celebrities drop by and play asshole versions of themselves, and in a subplot, Jeremy Piven yells. Unfortunately, we are not the immortal singers of song; to them, we are as the croaking of frogs. But whatever idea Ellin and Wahlberg eventually ?come down with,? know this: Though for a while it looked as if there may not be an Entourage movie, with things very nearly going completely wrong, it seems as though, at the last possible minute, everything will work out just fine. Let heaven and earth meet in the ritual clinking of imported beer bottles.

Outsourcing: Now Available to Even The Smallest Business

While finishing my MBA, I took a class that traveled to India. One of the people we met with there was an exec at a large outsourcing firm, who was asked by another student on the trip what was the smallest project they?ll take on. He said that:

? for BPO (business process outsourcing) projects involving at least 100-300 full time employees. Project based business can be somewhat smaller.

The student asking the question probably worked at a company with between 100-300 full time employees. So I guess they won?t be outsourcing with the big guys. But this doesn?t mean it?s impossible to hand-off work to people outside your company, even for the smallest businesses.

Outsourcing Through The Web

The internet has made it much easier for small companies to outsource their work. Rather than contacting a big provider like I described above, you can connect more directly with people that will do the work you need.

How Do You Connect?

A few amazing websites have sprung up to help companies outsource their work.

Two of the biggest such sites are?oDesk?and?Elance, where you can either post jobs or browse potential contractors. Both sites have features that make outsourcing easier and less risky:

  • Contractor Profiles -?People looking to be hired have profiles describing themselves, portfolios of past work, reviews from previous employers, a history of their work experience, and more.
  • Work Verification?-?Some form of time-tracking or work verification system is included, along with a dispute process to provide protection if the job goes bad.
  • Payment?- With both oDesk and Elance,?contractors are paid through their system, and you are just responsible for paying the site (much easier than figuring out how to pay an individual in the?Philippines). They add on a small amount to the rate for each worker in order to make money.
  • Compliance?- 1099?s can be automatically issued, and both oDesk and Elance offer a payroll service, where they are technically the employer, if this is required for your situation.

Another option, which is free, is to find contractors through?Craigslist.?You can post either ?Gigs? or ?Jobs? all over the world (switch to English via a link in the top-right). Craigslist will not, however, provide any of the above benefits.

Who Are You Working With?

When you look for people to work with online, you?ll most likely run into a few types ? and some of these will be better for different types of jobs:

  • Part-Time Freelancers -?Plenty of people do remote work as a supplement to their main job, or possible while taking care of kids or as an addition to their retirement. They often value flexibility, and may be hired for very reasonable rates if you have a job that can be done on their time.
  • Full-Time Freelancers ? There is also a large group of people that have moved into freelancing as a full-time career. They?ll often value guaranteed, stable work, and you should look for people like this if you have a task that needs doing on a regular basis.
  • Small Businesses ? As freelancers build up a reputation, some end up in such demand they can?t complete all their work. An increasing number of these proceed to outsource some work to subcontractors. The good ones still make sure it?s all up to their quality standards. Hiring these companies can be a way to get greater reliability and lower the amount of management required.

Also, many people have a stereotype of ?outsourcing? involving someone in a foreign country, but this is not necessarily the case. It?s also very possible to find people in a lower-wage area of your own country, or to hire someone domestically in order to gain access to their expertise.

Tools To Make It Work

Working with someone remotely can be a challenge. A few tools to make this easier inlcude:

  • Skype ? People around the world are familiar with Skype, and it allows you to speak with contractors through either voice, IM, or video chat. Read more about it in my Skype for Business review.
  • A Way to Share Files?- Simple sharing can be accomplished with Google Docs, or a service such as Box.net or Dropbox (my favorite ? read my Dropbox review) can provide more features.
  • A Way to Manage Your Work - There are a more options than I could possibly list here, depending on what you?re doing. A few might include Basecamp for working on projects, Batchbook if you?re getting help working with leads/sales, and Xendesk if you?re dealing with customer service. The idea is to use an application which allows remote users the same access you get in the office. If you run an in-house program, check with your IT provider for ideas.

Conclusion

Outsourcing can help a company find flexible workers, get access to expertise, and cut costs. Judging by the growth of oDesk and Elance, this is something that many companies are interested in ? and the web has made outsourcing much easier for small businesses. Is it something your company might (or already did) try?

It wasn?t until we had two kids in tow that we decided to move to the Hudson Valley to buy a house.? We both had the dream of becoming homeowners and the only way for us to make that dream come true was to move an hour and a half away from the city.

Ten years later, we don?t regret making that big move.? We love where we live and the schools are fantastic.? There are tons of things to do in our community so one is never bored.? Things like fairs, car shows, parks and local museums, there?s something for everyone in the whole family.

There?s a local park that we love to visit especially. It?s called Bowdoin Park.? It overlooks the Hudson River and every few minutes you can hear the Metro-North and Amtrak trains pass through.

Bowdoin Park is a 301 acre park located on the banks of the Hudson River in the Town of Poughkeepsie, NY on Sheafe Road.? It?s a wonderful place to have picnics, play soccer or just relax while the kids are cooling off at the play fountains.? There?s even a 4-mile trail that is well-maintained by the park staff.

It?s our favorite because not only is it free, it?s close-by and it?s peaceful.

?Supporting one?s home community is very gratifying,? says Pete Bardunias, President/CEO of the Chamber of Southern Saratoga County.? ?Especially in a state like New York, where exciting, undiscovered treasures are all around us.?? From hidden remnants of canals, historic farms and museums, waterways, mountains and open space, to modern centers of industry and shopping convenience, we?ve got it all within a very short distance from home ? it?s the best reason for thinking and buying local!?

Mom texts, calls daughter in vain on Utoya island (AP)

BUCHAREST, Romania ? A Romanian woman whose daughter was on the Utoya island youth camp in Norway says she has called and texted her "hundreds of times" since the attack but believes she is dead.

Anca Holst said 15-year-old Karin Elena Holst called her Friday saying a man was "shooting everyone."

The petrified girl did not want to hang up, but her mother urged her to stop talking and hide, she told Realitatea TV late Wednesday.

"OK Mom, I will," Karin replied. After that, silence. Anca Holst frantically called and texted until hope began to fade. "I think my child is dead," she said, her voice breaking.

The massacre on the annual summer camp of the left-wing Labor Party's youth wing killed 68 people.

Mindscape pulls the server plug on Nabaztag, hands source code to developers

Mindscape's ambient hare progenitors are officially headed off to that matrix briar patch in the sky. Turns out a battle with the server's host has left the company in a sticky financial situation, effectively shutting down support for the WiFi-enabled bunnies. In a recent YouTube announcement, CEO Thierry Bensoussan addressed the community's concerns, offering up source code that ensures a homebrew future for the Little Linux-Bunny Foo Foo forebears. Hobbyists hoping to snag that Nabaztag.com domain for themselves will instead have to accept a url redirect, as the site remains firmly under the software publisher's lock and key. But don't mourn your news reading, weather-forecasting buddy just yet, you can always replace it with the discounted love of lil' bro, Karotz.

"New era" for Pakistan, India relations, say ministers (Reuters)

NEW DELHI (Reuters) ? Indian and Pakistani foreign ministers hailed a new era in ties between the nuclear-armed rivals on Wednesday and agreed to fight militancy and boost trade and travel, a step forward in reducing tension in the world's most dangerous region.

The comments from Indian Foreign Minister S.M. Krishna and his Pakistani counterpart, Hina Rabbani Khar, were unexpectedly positive and may be a small step toward improving regional stability, made more urgent with a U.S. troop drawdown in Afghanistan looming.

"This is indeed a new era of bilateral cooperation between the two countries," Khar, Pakistan's first female and youngest-ever foreign minister, told the media after two and a half hours of talks, standing next to Krishna.

"(It) is our desire, and I believe after having spoken to you, Mr Foreign Minister, that it is the desire of both the governments, to make it an uninterrupted and an uninterruptable process."

Expectations of a breakthrough in peace talks have been low, but the fact the South Asian rivals are talking was a sign that neither side wants to slide back toward conflict.

The countries have fought three full-scale wars since winning independence in 1947, two of them over Kashmir, the disputed Himalayan region both claim in full but rule in part.

India and Pakistan in February resumed a formal peace process broken off after the 2008 attack on India's financial capital of Mumbai by Pakistan-based militants, which killed 166 people.

"We have some distance to travel, but with an open mind and consistent approach, which has been demonstrated in this round of dialogue, I am sure we can reach our desired destination of having a friendly and cooperative relation between our two countries," Krishna said.

FIGHTING "TERRORISM"

Importantly, they agreed to work more closely to fight militancy, which has plagued both countries, and to bring to justice perpetrators of militant attacks.

"We have agreed that terrorism poses a continued threat to peace and security and reiterate the firm and undiluted commitment of our two countries to fight and eliminate this scourge in all forms," Krishna said.

"We have also agreed the need to strengthen cooperation in counter-terrorism to bring those responsible for terror crimes to justice."

The United States has also stepped up efforts to bridge the divide between the neighbors. U. S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton visited New Delhi last week and urged them to work on ties as well as stabilizing the volatile region.

As in previous peace efforts, progress has been slow and vulnerable to any attempts by Pakistan-based militants, fighting Indian security forces in its part of Kashmir, to try to trigger a war by launching another Mumbai-style attack.

But both sides kept their cool in the aftermath of a triple bomb attack in Mumbai this month that killed 24 people and injured more than 130. Police have yet to identify the suspects but security analysts suspect the home-grown Indian Mujahideen.

Krishna said the two countries had agreed to implement a series of confidence-building measures, such as relaxing some of the trade and travel restrictions across a ceasefire line dividing Kashmir.

Peace across the heavily militarized frontier between India and Pakistan is crucial for the United States to draw-down troops and stabilize Afghanistan without sparking off a proxy war between New Delhi and Islamabad in that country.

The two countries also agreed to continue talking on Kashmir, an issue that Pakistan is keen to move forward on.

"We will continue discussions (on Kashmir) with a view to find a peaceful solution by narrowing divergences and building convergences," Krishna said.

Good Business Book

I have Good 25 and I set my business own am thinking in library my I'm excited I have institute since near and a school smaller I have some competition but I have Like wanting to care I can do so because at my 2 children the premises but want to know if you know if business is good or bad does not help me please. Of course if men q ,,,,, I have a library and wind me very much ,,,,, ,,,,, we can also put more copy and sell merchandise ,,,,,, we have over 176,660 aora 065,454,652 pesos through that. You know, I chose you as the best response for the encouragement you gave me and wanted to ask something to you early cost much and how long you start to see your earnings I am in Guatemala and I say that every thing he makes about Q0 . 20 for every thing and is what gives me a little m. To put a library requires a considerable capital, I must have an adequate supply of books. If you have an institute (school) close, find out what books are those that use there and sell those books in particular. A library is a business where money is flowing slowly. If you want to have steady cash, do not advise the library as a considerable investment of time input and investment recovery will take time. If you love reading you and liquidity is not your priority (ie you have other income), is good business for you, if the library will be your main source of income I think is not good, unless a library Gahandi style, Gonville, basement or something similar. I do not think that is a good business, you need to make a big investment if you live in Mexico at least, people do not read because you do not like or do not have to buy books because they are much too expensive. Also there are many public libraries where go read. I did. Two schools near the library is no guarantee of sales. luck. Depending on your country, at least here in Mexico, almost no one reads for pleasure but ask many books for school and I do think about what a good business but there are times. . . . . In the idea of ??taking new directions that allow us to generate greater savings, emerging good business book opportunities that can be considered. One is the exchange of used books. Thousands of people read books every day and want to save on books because the cost of them today, makes it impossible to buy. An alternative is a good business book that allows us some extra in our life and something that gives readers more opportunities. Some sites in Spain and were successful. Extend the idea to some friends who may also have books at home that take up space or are read to them and donate to the cause. - Think of a dissemination strategy that would allow everyone knows the business. Start small, first spread in the nearby shops, relatives, friends. - Plan a web page. This will undoubtedly be an excellent channel, load all the titles given the opportunity to place orders, or share directly from the web. - Think about the physical space where they will perform: excellent idea is to make the move. That means cover more areas. - It would be nice to keep a list of books you have. There are tools that allow a program to do the job. XHTML:. . . .

Whistleblowers Say Nuclear Regulatory Commission Watchdog Is Losing Its Bite

Byron Nuclear Power Plant Image: U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission

When he retired after 26 years as an investigator with the Nuclear Regulatory Commission's Office of the Inspector General, George Mulley thought his final report was one of his best.

Mulley had spent months looking into why a pipe carrying cooling water at the Byron nuclear plant in Illinois had rusted so badly that it burst. His report cited lapses by a parade of NRC inspectors over six years and systemic weaknesses in the way the NRC monitors corrosion.

But rather than accept Mulley's findings, the inspector general's office rewrote them. The revised report shifted much of the blame to the plant's owner, Exelon, instead of NRC procedures. And instead of designating it a public report and delivering it to Congress, as is the norm, the office put it off-limits. A reporter obtained it only after filing a Freedom of Information Act request.

The Fukushima nuclear disaster in Japan has thrust the NRC's role as industry overseer squarely in the spotlight, but another critical player in U.S. nuclear safety is the NRC's Office of the Inspector General, an independent agency that serves as watchdog to the watchdog.

Now, Mulley and one other former OIG employee have come forth with allegations that the inspector general's office buried the critical Byron report and dropped an investigation into whether the NRC is relying on outdated methods to predict damage from an aircraft crashing into a plant.

The inspector general's office, they assert, has shied away from challenging the NRC at exactly the wrong time, with many of the country's 104 nuclear power plants aging beyond their 40-year design life and with reactor meltdowns at Fukushima rewriting the definition of a catastrophic accident.

"We're in the nuclear power business. It's not a trivial business; it's public health and safety," said Mulley, who won the agency's top awards and reviewed nearly every major investigation the office conducted before he retired as the chief investigator three years ago.

"We have to have somebody that's going to look over the NRC's shoulder and make sure they were fulfilling their obligations," he said.

Inspector General Hubert T. Bell declined to comment, but Joseph McMillan, the assistant inspector general for investigations, said the office has continued to vigorously pursue cases. He confirmed that the aircraft crash case has been closed but said it was proper. Regarding the Byron case, McMillan acknowledged disagreements but said: "I stand by the work we have done."

The U.S. nuclear industry can point to an enviable safety record -- no member of the public has ever been injured by an accident at a plant. Nonetheless, critics point to issues like the NRC's drawn-out effort to enforce fire rules as evidence that the five-member commission and the agency it runs are too close to the industry.

The inspector general's office has traditionally filled a key oversight role, conducting dozens of investigations that have changed how the NRC regulates nuclear waste, fire protection and security, among other things. Its regular reports to Congress cover waste, fraud and agency performance.

Many federal agencies have similar independent offices to ferret out wrongdoing and improve efficiency. The NRC's was established in 1989 and has been led for the past 15 years by Bell, who was appointed by President Clinton after nearly three decades in the Secret Service.

'Everything Seems to Die'

In the office's history, Mulley has left a big mark.

For years, he documented how the NRC dropped the ball on the handling of nuclear fuel and security in nuclear plants. His reports on defective fire barriers led to congressional hearings and ultimately to a complete overhaul of the agency's fire protection regulations.

Grand Isle Tarpon Rodeo weighmaster Grady Lloyd closing out 58 ...

If a Saints fan happened to catch a touchdown ball thrown into the Superdome stands by a Drew Brees receiver, his next steps would be automatic: He'd have No. 9 sign the pigskin, then place that piece of football history in a shrine inside his home, where all visitors would be welcome to worship.

With that in mind, here's some advice for anyone weighing in a fish at the Grand Isle Tarpon Rodeo this week: Have weigh master Grady Lloyd sign that finned wonder, then mount and hang it on your living room wall. You'll be saving a precious piece of local sports history.

When the scales close at 8 p.m. Saturday on the 89th edition of the event, Lloyd will bring 58 years of fishing and family history to a close.

"I'm tired of smelling fish," Lloyd said last week with the same sawdust-dry affect that has greeted anglers for decades. "This will be my last Grand Isle Rodeo."

That news will hit local anglers the way Cal Ripken's retirement struck baseball fans; it's hard to imagine this game going on without him.

Lloyd became weighmaster at Grand Isle in 1974, taking over for his father-in-law, Marion Higgins, who had held the post since 1951, and whom Lloyd had worked under as an assistant since 1961. And like Higgins before him, Lloyd quickly became the weighmaster-of-choice at most other fishing tournaments across southeast Louisiana for decades, a span shared with tens of thousands of anglers, and probably hundreds of thousands of fish.

That's a lot of fish, and a lot of stories, about fish and people. That's because local fishing contests feature simultaneous competitions in social as well as angling skills, and although trophies are only given for fish, bragging rights for the best partier are just as coveted by many participants. They call them rodeos for a reason.

Ringmaster

The weighmaster serves as ringmaster for these multi-day fishing celebrations, the lone figure who must remain focused and functional at the eye of the storm. Grand Isle has always been the biggest challenge, because it's the biggest in terms of fishing, and parties.

Lloyd has been an eyewitness to how this event has changed over the years, from a pure fishing event to a sort of bacchanal on the bayou, and back to fishing again.

"Originally, it was just about fishing," he said. "I got involved in 1961 because when I married Kathy Higgins, I married into the rodeo. I immediately became Marion Higgins' assistant. No questions asked.

"In those days, the weighmaster weighed every fish brought to the scales. If a guy came in with three ice chests of specks, sheepshead, snapper, whatever, we weighed each and every fish."

By the late 1970s the rodeo was becoming legendary for its nightlife as well. Tales abounded of politicians and wealthy businessmen arriving on the island with boatloads of professional female entertainment. Apparently two types of rodeos were being held at the same time.

Then one year Lloyd got a call from a Jefferson Parish judge angry about stories of lewd shenanigans taking over the event.

"He wanted names and places, but I couldn't help him," Lloyd recalled. "I'd hear all these stories, but they were just stories to me because we were at the scales from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m., then I was back at the hotel with the wife and four kids."

But the judge didn't give up.

"Next year (Jefferson Parish) deputies were all over the island, wearing black outfits, patrolling the beaches, the roads and the marinas," he said. "Funny thing, after that year, those stories became a lot more infrequent."

The party scene has changed. The spread of modern, expensive fishing camps, second homes and hotels means much of the social scene is confined to personal dwellings. But the island is still overwhelmed during rodeo days with its 7-mile stretch of Louisiana Highway 1 often turning into a bumper-to-bumper traffic jam featuring beer-swilling drivers and passengers baking in the summer heat.

Change happens

Other changes over the decades have been more obvious.

Fewer anglers now come to the scales, a factor likely due to improved communication.

"They can find out (the weight) leading the category, and they don't bother making the trip if they don't have a fish that can make it," Lloyd said.

"And unlike those old days, we don't weigh every fish in an ice chest. If it's going to make the board, we'll put it on the scales. If it has no chance, we don't bother, but neither do the fishermen."

The size of the tarpon fleet has shrunk from dozens to less than 10. The tuna fishing frenzy seems to have drawn anglers away from the silver kings.

But the biggest change has been the best: A move to conservation.

The days when mounds of tarpon, sharks, billfish and reds lay rotting in the summer sun are over. Today anglers release, or filet, fish they know won't make the board, while big game species such as tarpon and billfish are no longer killed for the anglers' ego but entered in a catch-and-release division.

"Thank god for that," Lloyd said. "Back in the day, they'd leave those big fish hanging up until the body rotted and fell down leaving just the head on the hook.

"What a waste -- what a stink!"

And, clich?s to the contrary, Lloyd said most of the anglers he met were not liars or cheaters.

"You hear stories about people shoving lead weights or rocks down the fish's throat to make it weigh more, but I can't recall ever seeing that," he said. "First of all, it's just too easy to catch, because all you have to do is squeeze the fish's stomach, which is something we always did if the fish was going to make the leaders."

That isn't to say some didn't try to cheat.

"The frozen fish is the most frequent attempt," Lloyd recalled. "A guy catches a big one weeks before the rodeo, puts it in the freezer, then thaws it out a day or two before the rodeo and brings it in opening day.

"Now, the gills are always the giveaway. The paler the gills, the older that fish will be. Now, over the years, some of these guys got pretty good at thawing 'em out so the gills still looked OK. But we found a way around that."

Which was?

"That's one secret I'm taking with me when I leave," he said.

He leaves Saturday at 8 p.m. when the scales close, a move that probably won't strike anglers until next year, when Lloyd isn't standing behind those scales. Grandparents taking their grandchildren to their first weigh-in this week can probably remember when a younger Grady Lloyd was there, helping Marion Higgins as they weighed in their first Grand Isle Rodeo fish.

"That's been the best memories - watching whole families grow up, like my own family" Lloyd said. "I can remember weighing in fish for little kids, who then grew up to go off to college, and then come back married with their own kids.

"And all these people I might see only once a year. It was like a reunion every year with a big family.

"I'll miss that."

And the family will miss him.

Droid Bionic's secrecy betrayed on Amazon, by simple dock listings

We had our hands on a raw version of the Droid Bionic way back at CES, but two listings on Amazon for desktop and car docking stations, uncovered by Android Central forum posters, may give the clearest look at the phone so far. As you can see in the shot above of the desktop dock Motorola's slab appears to have a chrome ring running around the outside, while the dock itself has a 3.5mm audio out, HDMI output and USB ports. There's no price or release date listed for either accessory but if you've been lusting over the beast and its rumored specs we're figuring some quiet time with these shots is just what the doctor ordered -- check after the break for a shot of the car dock and the back of the desktop docking station.
