Simpsons Accredited on Federal Government Legal Services Multi ...

Simpsons has been included on the federal government?s ?Legal Services Multi-User List? (LSMUL) for corporate and commercial law.

After a rigorous assessment process, the Civil Law Division in the Federal Attorney-General?s Department has listed Simpsons as a firm accredited to provide legal services to federal government agencies.?? Simpsons has a strong track-record in providing legal advice to federal government entities ? and particularly to cultural institutions such as museums and galleries.

The advice it can provide covers most commercial matters, but particularly focuses on:
- copyright and other areas of intellectual property
- establishing appropriate legal structures
- governance responsibilities and ethical issues
- establishing title to and authenticity of objects
- acquiring objects
- donations, gifts and bequests
- deaccessioning and disposal
- loans and touring
- statutory protection of cultural material
- licensing, merchandising and sponsorship
- the taxation incentives for the arts scheme and
- public liability insurance

Shane Simpson wrote the only Australian book on the subject: ?Museums and Galleries: a Legal Guide?, commissioned by the Museums Association. Shane has recently completed a new book on museum law and practice in Australia, ?Collections Law? 2009.
