Travel and Spherical Panoramas: Kingdom of the Netherlands ...

A great means to display spaces are spherical panoramas. Often produced in high quality, they can display incredible detail. I took my gear along on a recent trip to Europe and shot a spherical panorama whenever there was an opportunity to do so. Having been back from this trip this article presents a summary of our travels.

Just recently my wife and I visited the Netherlands and traveled to places of all kinds, including Amsterdam, Rotterdam and The Hague, some of the major cities located in Holland. Since we visited these places during the day, lighting conditions were not the best at time to shoot a spherical panorama. However, architecture of all kinds made up for the quality of light at times.

To those unfamiliar with the Netherlands, the country is located on the west side of Europe and borders Germany to the east. Known for its windmills and ?dodgy girls,? Holland?s landscape is stunning and very much worthy of all kinds of photography, including the shooting of a spherical panorama. Those that are into cycling will very much enjoy this territory, as steep elevations are nowhere to be found.

We stayed and traveled through Holland for a period of about 2 weeks. One of my favorite constructions we visited was the Old Church in the city of Delft, not too far from Rotterdam. The Old Church is literal translation of the Dutch name Oude Kerk, the official name of the church. The church?s tower reaches an altitude of 200 plus feet and is located near a church called the New Church, only located a few 100 yards from the Oude Kerk.

The city of Delft is located in the province of Zuid Holland or South Holland in English, the Netherlands. Considered an attraction to many tourists around the world, Delft is known for its typical Dutch town center and canals. Delft also is or was home to Dutch painter Vermeer, Delftware or Delft Blue pottery and the Technische Universiteit van Delft, or University of Delft in English.

We very much enjoyed our recent trip to the Netherlands and hope to enjoy a similar journey to some of the other countries in Europe, including France and Spain. One of my next cities to see and shoot is the city of Barcelona.

My wife and I also visited other places in the Netherlands for the purpose of shooting spherical panoramas as well as to enjoy the sights as ?normal? tourists. Certain places like museums are hesitant of allowing people with too much gear or equipment into their respective buildings, which is understandable.

Delft is a wonderfull city worth including it in your Netherland itinerary.
