NCQA Recognizes NEW Health as Patient-Centered Medical Home ...

The National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) recently recognized North End Waterfront Health as a Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH). The health center received this accolade for using evidence-based, patient-centered processes that focus on highly coordinated care and long term participative relationships.

The NCQA is a private, non-profit organization whose goal is to improve the healthcare system in the United States.

?We are very pleased that all of our staff?s hard work has resulted in this prestigious recognition,? said Jim Luisi, CEO of NEW Health. ?Becoming a patient-centered medical home is just one of the many ways we are striving to give our patients the best possible health care.?

The PCMH model of care emphasizes care coordination and communication to transform primary care into ?what patients want it to be.? Research shows that medical homes can lead to higher quality and lower costs, and improve both patients? and providers? reported experience of care.

NEW Health, a Massachusetts General Hospital affiliate, is the first MGH health center to receive this NCQA recognition. The Joint Commission, an independent organization that accredits health care facilities, also recognized NEW Health as a PCMH last year.
