Samsung Plans 12.2-Inch Android Tablet with 2560 x 1600 Display

Most tablets these days measure 10.1 inches in diagonal or 7 inches, with the occasional 8-inch and 11.6-inch models tossed in. Samsung wants to see if other form factors can be successful.

That is why Samsung is planning to release an Android slate with a display of 12.2 inches in diagonal.

The screen would have a native resolution of 2560 x 1600 pixels, implying a pixel density of 247 ppi.

Presumably, the tablet would also have 3G, Wi-Fi and LTE, though not necessarily in the same device, LTE could be reserved for a special model.

Furthermore, the slate will supposedly run the Android 4.2 operating system.

It is, at present, unknown what brand the product will bear, whether Galaxy Tab, Ativ or some other moniker.

Just as it's still uncertain if people will really take the plunge and buy one of these things instead of, say, a 13.3-inch Ultrabook.
